General Information for Classified Ads:

Placing an Ad:

General Information:

How much does an ad cost? (What's the catch?)
All classified ads from private individuals, that adhere to our Terms of Service, are FREE. There's no gimmick and no catch. As long as you are an individual posting something for sale that falls within the rules posted in our Terms of Service, you may post a full descriptive ad (up to 500 words), up to 9 full color photos, for 90 days, at no cost. If your item doesn't sell in 90 days, come back and relist your item -- free.

There really is no catch, no hidden charge, no "gotcha!". Free classified ads are supported by business advertising sponsors, so when you see an ad from one of our advertising sponsors, please do consider using their services! They're local to you, or they wouldn't be advertising on this service. If you're a business advertiser that is interested in advertising on this site, please click here for more information.

What do I need to place an ad?
It's helpful to write your ad copy out before actually placing an ad. Unlike conventional print ads, Classifieds with a Click® ads allow approximately a full typed page (up to 500 words) for description, rather than a paltry 15 words. You will have ample room to fully describe your item or items.

Please remember to include good information in your ad; the more details, the more likely your item will sell. For instance, vehicles should include make, model, color, options, mileage, condition, extras, any existing warranties. Refrigerators should include color, dimensions, cubic footage, ice maker options. Clothing should include measurements, size, materials, and washability. Real estate should include square footage, number of bedrooms/baths, highlights of property, school district and tax information, financing options, etc. Your words will sell your item, so be descriptive, exact, and honest!

You can also post up to nine full color photos with your item(s) at no extra charge. Digital photos of less than 200K in size, and 1000 pixels wide (or less) are best; but you can certainly scan your photos for upload as well. (Please remember to make sure the size is under 200K per photo.) You will have the opportunity to upload your photos when actually placing your ad. Don't worry about creating a preview photo; our site creates a preview photo automatically from the first image you include.

How are Classifieds with a Click® ads different from standard classifieds?
Classifieds with a Click® ads offer many benefits that traditional print classified ads don't, including much more room to describe your item for sale, up to nine color photos uploaded and displayed with your ad at no additional cost, a preview photo option to help attract potential buyers, and perhaps the best asset, a targeted audience that is at Classifieds with a Click® looking for specific items.

While newspapers (and others) brag about readership, those numbers don't mean much when it comes to how many eyes are actually reading your ad, usually buried in the back of the newspaper. Those who visit this site are here because they're looking for something to buy or sell. Guaranteed: if you place your ad with us, your ad isn't being carried off someone's doorstep and shredded by the neighborhood dog!

You also don't have to wait until the "next edition" to view your placed ad, or see new ads. Ads are updated during regular business hours every business day, so chances are, your ad will be reviewed within 24 hours of submission.

One more important thing: print media classifieds aren't searchable. Classifieds with a Click® ads are!

How long does it take to put an ad online?
Once you finish creating your ad and submit it, our reviewers are notified by email. They will review ads during regular business hours. Depending on when you place your ad, it may be reviewed and then sent "live" immediately; or it may be reviewed on the next business day after you submit the ad.

The review process is simple; the reviewer will make sure your ad meets published guidelines (visit our Terms of Service for guidelines), is in the right location/category, and is otherwise complete. Once all criteria is met, the reviewer will give the "okay" to your ad and it will immediately appear in our ads database. If for some reason your ad does not meet criteria, you will be contacted by the reviewer in email, if it is a matter that can be easily solved with additional information. Some ads will not be approved because of Terms of Service violations, so it is important to review guidelines before placing your ad.

Why do you require a review?
The review process is a simple one, and helps keep quality of ads conducive to sales. You don't want a personals ad or a make-money-at-home ad to appear above your legitimate ad for selling your car (or other item), and neither do we! While we can't guarantee that those that place ads are always going to be on the up-and-up, we certainly will attempt to weed out those who, frankly, are just trashing the place up. There are other venues for such ads.
We also want to make sure that your ad is in the right place. It won't do you much good if you accidentally post your ad for your Honda in the American Cars section. And, if we see an obvious error, we'll contact you before sending your ad live. Remember, though; if you accidentally post something in error, you can edit your listing, as long as you registered before placing your ad.

While the review process does delay ads going immediately into the viewable database of ads, we believe this is a process that will help buyers and sellers alike.

Placing an Ad:

How do I post an ad?
Click on the "Click Here to Place Ad" link on just about every page, and you'll be led through the process one step at a time.

The first step is to register with this site. By registering, you can come in at any time and view all your ads and make changes. You can find the Login/Register area at the very bottom left of any page.

Once you've read and agreed to our Terms of Service, you will be asked to select a category for your ad. We do not currently accept ads from outside of the United States.

Once your category is selected, simply fill in the form items. Categories such as Real Estate and Vehicles have additional form items to help enhance those listings. If you're unsure about any item, you can hover your mouse over the blue "i" symbol, and a description of that item will appear.

At the very bottom of the ad, you may include color photos. If for some reason you are unable to include photos, send your photos to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will edit your photos for size and include them with your ad, free of charge.

Submit your ad.

That's it! After we review and approve your ad, it will be listed in our database.

What comes with the ad?
Each ad area has a series of fields to fill out, including title, description, price range, location, and photos, at the very least. Some areas have special extras; for instance, if you're placing an ad to sell your home, there are areas for type of home, location, square footage, and more.

All ads feature a large area for descriptions; no "30 words or less" here! While it always pays to be concise in your descriptions, you will have the equivalent of approximately one typed page (500 words) to describe your item for sale. You may upload up to nine full color digital photos (less than 200K in size each, please). Our service will create a preview photo from the first photo you include; visitors will see this photo with your ad preview.

Help! I don't know how to post photos of my item!
When taking digital photos of your item, remember to use your camera's email or VGA setting. This will automatically size your photos so they aren't too big for uploading to your classified ad.

Once you have transferred your photos to your computer, remember where you put them! It will help you to write down the name of the file name of the photo, and where it's located on your computer. (This is different for most cameras and computers/operating systems, so if you're not sure, please refer to your camera's owner's manual.)

Place your ad, but before clicking SAVE, you can click on "browse" buttons to the right of each photo number. Then, locate the photo on your computer. Once selected, move on to the next photo; you may submit up to nine color images. Thumbnail and preview images are automatically created for you, so don't worry about that part!

Once all your photos are selected, click on the SAVE button. It may take several seconds, depending on the speed of your internet connection, to be carried to the next screen; your photos are uploading. You're done! The rest is up to us.

If you have difficulty with your digital photos, please email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ; we are more than happy to assist you in producing a quality ad.

What if my item doesn't sell?
While there are no guarantees that your item will sell, we invite you to renew your ad. When renewing, you may want to review your description and/or photos to insure that you have described your item to its best advantage.
Back

Who's responsible if a sale goes bad?
Advertising here is much like standard classified ads; you must make your best effort to insure that a transaction is good before carrying it out. All actual dealings for sales are entirely between buyer and seller; we do not monitor transactions.

Please be smart when dealing with a potential buyer or seller; just as in "real life", there are scammers on the internet, as well. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is, and should be approached with caution.
